Presenting Dr. Mark Finch

Dr. Mark Finch has successfully defended his PhD dissertation in the Ethnomusicology graduate program at 色花堂 University.  鈥淏luegrass In and Around Toronto: Urban Scenes, Regional Imaginaries, and Divergent Trajectories鈥 traces the growth of a distinctively Canadian bluegrass scene in Toronto between 1955 and 1985.

In addition to being a major contribution to historical ethnomusicology, Dr. Finch鈥檚 research contributes to our understanding of how musical scenes develop in urban and transregional contexts.  His supervisor is renowned bluegrass scholar and MUN professor emeritus Dr. Neil Rosenberg, and the external examiner was Dr. Lee Bidgood of East Tennessee State University.
